My Etsy Store!!

I finally did it. I got my own Etsy store. It was much easier that I thought that it would be. Now I am just hoping to sell some of my things. If you know anyone that might be interested please give them my link. If there is some thing that you might want that isn't listed I will do my best to make it for you.

Click on the picture and it will take you to my store.

Now I need to get it smaller for the side bar and I should be set. Then it will be knit, knit, knit to make more things for it.

Wish me luck.

Baby Hats - Need Your Help

I have made a few baby hats that I am wanting to sell either on eBay or Etsy. I am wanting to at least get my money for the yarn and a little for my time. The yarn is a good quality cotton/cotton blend yarn from my LYS.

I have shown them to my Mom and she told me that I should sell them for $25.00. I just don't know if I can get that out of them. I know that some people are willing to pay for hand made items and the work that you have put into it, but there are so many that won't.

This is where I need your help. I am wondering what you think? What would you sell them for? What would you be willing to pay for them?

I didn't use a full skein for a hat, but I don't have nearly enough to make another one. I might get 1/4 of a hat from what is left, so unless I make one that is striped out of all the left overs I can only get one hat per skein. I was hoping to get 2, but that was not the case.

Please leave me any and all comments and advice that you might have for me in this venture. I am looking to just make some money to support my yarn addiction. I appreciate all of your advice.

Thanks for all your help!!

Cocoon Shrug

I am making some progress on my cocoon shrug. I have been told that I might be the first one from the class to get it finished! I am amazed that some of the other people I had class with haven't finished yet.

I am getting antsy to get it finished. I have made a modification in the pattern with the sleeves. I decided to make some strategic decreases so it is more form fitting to my arm instead of the one large tube that the pattern calls for. I like the decreases much better.

I am beginning to feel like I am never going to get it finished. I guess it is because most of the knitting that I have been doing you decrease as you go along. This pattern you are increasing so it makes every other round longer. I am trying to be patient and not get discouraged. I really like how it is turning out. I think that part of the problem is I want it done so I can take it and show it off. I guess it is better to make progress and feel like you are making progress than to feel like you are getting no where fast.

I will leave you with a few more pictures of my progress.

The Final Pictures of the Frisky Shrug

As I had said a while ago, the frisky shrug is finished. It is finally to it's owner and out of my hands. Yeah! I swear that the thing was out to get me. I had to reorder yarn twice! I really think it was eating it at night.

It turned out really cute. I really liked the softness and fuzzy qualities of the yarn. Despite all the hurdles I had to jump to get it done, it was still a fun knit. I would knit it again if I had a request for it. Heck I might even knit one for myself.

I am so glad that she liked it. Granted it turned out a little bigger than I anticipated, but she can grow into it.

Here are the final pictures of it before heading to my niece.

Here is my niece modeling it for me. Isn't she pretty!? She looks so much older than 14! Her Daddy is going to have to keep that shot gun close by to keep the boys away that is for sure.

A Little Shrug Tease Please

Well here are the beginnings of my Cocoon Shrug from Annie Modesitt. Cool colors aren't they?! I just love the Lona's Laces. It knits up so well and is machine washable! Just being machine washable is BIG in my book! The colors that I am using are Chocolate and Tuscany. They work really well together. I am more of a earth tone person so I really liked the colors together. They remind me so much of fall and all the gorgeous colors that are on the trees.

This is a fun knit. I really like watching the pattern emerge as I go. The twisted float rows are a little more time consuming than the garter stitch ones, but they look so cool on the "right" side.

I really hope to have it done before it gets cool again. Of course the way that the week looks like I am not going to get to wear it any time soon. They are calling for high 90's and humidity on top of it. It has been warm lately and I just haven't been knitting on it because I just don't want it laying on my lap for that long. So I know that it is going to be nice for those cool days this fall and winter.

No, I haven't gotten any pictures of it lately. I know, I know.... I need to get some new pictures. Maybe I will get the time tomorrow to snap a few quick pictures of it.

Here is the beginnings of it on 16" needles. Isn't it cute!?

Here is the "right" side. It has the twisted floats in brown. Cool aren't they?!

Ok, so I found something that I didn't like. Something is really wonky here. I don't know what happened, but I didn't like it so it was frogged back. Glad that I noticed it before I got too far.

So that is my very late in coming update on my shrug. It is much farther I swear. I am actually working on the first arm, so I am getting closer to having it done. I am really excited to get it finished. I really wish the weather would cool off so I could stand to have it in my lap to work on it. Oh well. I am getting some other knitting done at least. More on that later too. ;)

Annie's Cocoon Shrug Class

At the end of May my LYS had Annie Modesitt in to teach some classes.

I was lucky enough to be able to take a few of them. They were awesome! She is such a wonderful teacher! She had just the right amount of humor, patients, stories and knitting knowledge to make the classes entertainingly educational. We all know that sitting in a 6 hour class can drag by, but man did the time fly in her classes. The only time that I wanted to stop was for lunch and that was only because my stomach was telling me I had to. You know this girl can't miss a meal. LOL

I can't wait to get my Cocoon Shrug finished. Not like the weather is really great to be wearing a wool shrug, but I want to have it when the weather decides to cool down. I have been diligently working on it when my son will let me. :)

I can say that once you learn the 2 section repeat it is an easy and fun knit. It is really neat the way that she had make the pattern so that you can figure out how to make it for the an infant if you want or yourself. Just 2 measurements and 2 simple formulas and you have everything that you need to make one to perfectly fit. How cool is that?!

Also the Cocoon Shrug can be worn 2 ways. One way you have a long collar and it is short along your back. Then if you flip it over the collar will be short and the back long like a jacket! How cleaver is that?! 2 garments in one knit. I am so there!

I will have some pictures of my progress in another post later.

I would recommend taking any of her classes if you have the chance. They were great!

Thanks Annie for 3 GREAT classes. I hope that you come back to Lambikins soon.

Here are some pictures of the sample Cocoon Shrug that Annie brought for us to see and drool over. Great motivation. :) Christina (the owner of Lambikins) is the one modeling it.

Annie also brought a sample of her Corset pattern. It was gorgeous!!!! Aimee (that is pronounced Ah-Mee NOT Amy) was kind enough to model it so I could get some pictures. I hate her for her body! ;) I just love the corset. That will be something I can look forward to knitting if I could ever loose some weight.

Corset Front - Aimee, you are just Beautiful!

Corset Back - Ok so you wouldn't normally wear it with sweat pants LOL, but come on it was a 6 hour class. We all came for comfort.

Frisky Shrug Update

It is finally to the blocking stage!!!!

It has been blocked and removed from the board. I took it to my LYS on Monday for help on how to sew it up since I have never sewn up anything before. I was asked if I would mind waiting until next Monday because the owner has a class this week on finishing and sewing techniques. So she just might come back with an ingenious way to go about it. I was more than up for that so it went back in my back for next Monday.

I can't wait for it to be finally finished. I am sure my Niece has thought I have completely forgot about her. I PROMISE I haven't!

After running out of the original stash that I bought I had to have my LYS look for more. Ok I got more then ran out again!!! So we went through the same process again. So now it is knit and blocked and I HOPE that I will have enough yarn to finish sewing it together. I should I have at least 3 balls left.

Mother's Day Gifts

Yeah I know that this is late and it is almost Father's Day, but it is better late than never right?.

I made wash cloths for my Mom and my Mother-In-Law. They came out really well. The pictures are after they have been washed and dried. I think that they came out really well. They are so soft! I also got some homemade soaps to go with them.

It is so hard to figure out something to get them. I wanted something that they could use so I thought that they would like something that I made that they can use as well. They seemed to like them. My Mom is already using hers, so at least I know my time was worth it for her. I don't know if my Mother-In-Law is using hers or not. I am sure if she isn't using them she has them proudly displayed somewhere in the house. :)
